Santa’s Annual Bay Club Visit

Thursday, 12. December 2019 10:33

IMG_0807Santa Claus recently took time out of his busy schedule to visit the children of the Bay Club during our Breakfast with Santa and Gingerbread House Decorating event.

The morning began with Chef George’s delicious Pancakes, served with a variety of yummy toppings including Fresh Berries, Bananas, Maple Syrup and Home-made Whipped Cream.  A scrumptious Quiche and Bacon rounded out the menu.

Santa made his arrival as everyone finished their meals, and led the group in singing a rousing rendition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.  The children then had a chance to sit on his lap, pose for pictures and share their Christmas lists with him.

Santa had to be on his way, but the fun continued as the kids moved on to decorate their gingerbread houses.  The provided frosting, fondant and a wide variety of candy, paired with their creativity, made for a fun time.  And those with smaller children were happy to help in the decorating.  No two houses looked alike!

This enjoyable family event is always a favorite for the children – and this year was no different.  Everyone left with big smiles and a little more holiday spirit!

Santa Claus Visits the Bay Club

Thursday, 6. December 2018 10:47

Santa(cropped)

Santa Claus recently made his yearly trip to the Bay Club during our Breakfast with Santa and Gingerbread House Decorating workshop – easily one of the Club’s favorite children’s events of the year.

Parents and grandparents brought their little ones to enjoy Chef Kent’s yummy pancakes with a variety of fun toppings such as Berries, Fruit Sauces and of course, Home-made Whipped Cream.

Following the meal, Santa arrived and led the group in some favorite Christmas carols.  After which all the children had a chance to sit on his lap, pose for pictures and tell him what they want for Christmas.

Once Santa was on his way to his next location, the kids moved on to Gingerbread House Decorating. Imaginations ran wild as they went to town decorating with the provided Frosting, Fondant and more varieties of candy than you can imagine.  And parents and grandparents of smaller children were more than willing to dig in and help design the perfect house.

It was hard not to be in the holiday spirit after this fun family event!

Club Seahorse – Children’s Summer Program at the Bay Club

Monday, 18. June 2018 12:59

ClubSeahorse2

The summer is a fun time of year for our young members at the Bay Club!  Each year, our summer program, Club Seahorse, is offered to children and grandchildren of Bay Club members.  The five-day weekly program is available for Pee Wees (half days for 4 and 5 year olds) and Juniors (full days for 6-10 year olds).  While mainly a sports-oriented program providing golf, tennis and swimming, participants also enjoy traditional club activities such as arts and crafts, games and outdoor sports.

Each week features a different theme which is carried out through special guest visits as well as crafts and games.  This year, the children will enjoy visits from Buttonwood Park Zoo and the Boston Museum of Science, as well as Bay Club Chefs for hands-on cooking demonstrations.  The last week of the program will feature the ever popular “Bay Club Olympics,” where the competitive spirit comes out in everyone.

The applications are already coming in and we are working on creating another memorable season for the Bay Club youth.

Thursday, 2. December 2010 19:13

Ginger Bread House | Bay Club Mattapoisett The Bay Club at Mattapoisett is chock full of special events this December; many of which have become family traditions.

The Holiday Wreath Workshop starts off the holiday season when local favorite Chad Michael Peters offers his assistance and a vast assortment of materials for members to create their personalized holiday masterpiece for doors, mantles or tabletops.

The young members of the Bay Club are treated to an incredible Gingerbread House Workshop. Willie Wonka himself could not provide a more elaborate spread of confections used to adorn the prebuilt houses. Generations of family members gather to enjoy the process and welcome Santa to the Bay Club!

Traditionally, a group of Bay Club members plan a trip to Boston to attend a Boston Holiday Pops performance. This year, however, the venue has been revised and the group heads to the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra as two of the young members of the club will play in the Family Holiday Pops performance!

Nestled in between the family events is a member holiday party where Chef Mercer outdoes himself each year with an amazing offering of holiday fare.

Teens at the Bay Club

Wednesday, 11. August 2010 14:38

Bay Club at Mattapoisett Base CampBay Club Base Camp (BCBC), new this summer to the Bay Club at Mattapoisett, was offered for children between the ages of  9 and 15.   This sometimes-mobile program ran for three afternoons each week and in addition to the primary theme of the week it included a cooking class, fitness with Bay Club Fitness Director Dave Maloney and a free swim.

Week one focused on sports taking advantage of the amenities of the club including a championship golf course, Junior Olympic sized swimming pool and four Har-Tru Hydo Tennis Courts.  Week two focused on moving making which began at the club learning TV production, set design and visual conception.  The group then traveled to a local TV studio where the children worked in small groups with expert technicians and completed a video montage.

Week Three was for the fish in the family!  Day one included learning about professional snorkeling, gearing up and being fitted to a wet suit. The second day was spent in the club pool with a professional dive team getting officially certificated in snorkeling and day three was spent in Barnstable for an outdoor dive with a team of expert divers at Hathaway Pond.

The teens at the club have also enjoyed Friday Night Teen Pool and Pizza Parties this summer.  The response to this event has been impressive to say the least.  The teens enjoyed a couple of hours in the pool with a casual dinner and a lively ping pong tournament.  It has been a pleasure for the staff and parents to watch so many young people enjoying the facilities and building friendships and summer memories that will certainly last a lifetime.
