snowflakeArtist Sue Slowey and her team will bring two hours of indoor winter fun to the Bay Club!  The fun begins at the Sports and Activities Center at 9:30 am where children will create a unique snowman mask like you have never seen before! After a break and snack of cut up apples with yogurt dip, graham crackers with cream cheese and bottled water, the fun continues with winter games, “Who’s lost something?”  Two attendants will dress for a snowy day and the remaining children will try to discover what is missing. Next comes story time “What do Snowmen do at Night?” and a creative sing along with hand signs.  Time permitting they will “sew” a mitten and decorate it with stickers and colored markers.

Joins us at the Golf House for the feature film Miracle, just in time for the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics.  This is the inspiring story of the U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey Team’s victory over the Soviet Union at the 1980 Winter Games in Lake Placid, NY.

Chef Mercer and his staff will prepare a special dinner including featuring Chicken and Lentil Chili with Green Beans and Cherry Tomatoes. Also included is a Mixed Greens Salad and Dessert. Dinner will be served promptly at 6:00 pm and the movie will follow at 7:15 pm.

Watch this video as a reminder of the mood of the United States in 1980 and the incredible victory for the USA Hockey Team.

The Holiday Season at the Bay Club

Friday, 11. December 2009 22:57

christmas wreathThe spirit is joyously bubbling over at the Bay Club at Mattapoisett this season.  Foremost, the beautiful tree, decked out by local florist Chad Micheal Peters in the Sports & Activities Center is brimming with lovely  gifts donated by our generous members in support of local children.

John McCormack, the Bay Club’s Director of  Cultural Activities, hosted a holiday wreath class to help members personalize their own special wreath to use in their homes.   As always The Bay Club provides the materials and members are encouraged to bring special elements that will personalize their work.  It is a social time of collaboration and has become a tradition with many members.

The annual holiday party will once again coincide with the Pro Shop Sale.  The sale hasn’t quite reached the level of frenzy as Filene’s on Wedding Gown Sale Day; however you would be surprised at the bargains and enthusiasm members bring to the event.

Hope to see you round the tree this season.  To arrange a personal tour, send Dave Andrews an email, he would be happy to arrange a meeting.

Bay Club Fishing Derby

Tuesday, 27. October 2009 0:52

Bay Club Mattapoisett Fishing DerbyThe Bay Club Mattapoisett hosted their first ever Fishing Derby this past Sunday in the idyllic pond that overlooks the 8th, 9th, and 10th holes on the clubs 7,068 championship golf course.  The pond, which covers 4.5 surface acres and averages 20 feet deep, is stocked with both brown and rainbow trout.   Members began the event with a fly fishing demonstration, compliments of one of the club’s more avid fishermen (who also baited hooks for some slightly squeamish participants) then set out to catch some fish!  The group ended the morning with a barbeque lunch on the patio at the Half Way Café, took in the views of the pond and had animated discussions of the “ones that got away”.
