Santa Claus Visits the Bay Club

Thursday, 6. December 2018 10:47

Santa(cropped)

Santa Claus recently made his yearly trip to the Bay Club during our Breakfast with Santa and Gingerbread House Decorating workshop – easily one of the Club’s favorite children’s events of the year.

Parents and grandparents brought their little ones to enjoy Chef Kent’s yummy pancakes with a variety of fun toppings such as Berries, Fruit Sauces and of course, Home-made Whipped Cream.

Following the meal, Santa arrived and led the group in some favorite Christmas carols.  After which all the children had a chance to sit on his lap, pose for pictures and tell him what they want for Christmas.

Once Santa was on his way to his next location, the kids moved on to Gingerbread House Decorating. Imaginations ran wild as they went to town decorating with the provided Frosting, Fondant and more varieties of candy than you can imagine.  And parents and grandparents of smaller children were more than willing to dig in and help design the perfect house.

It was hard not to be in the holiday spirit after this fun family event!

Bay Club Fourth of July Festivities

Monday, 16. July 2018 8:50

Photo Jul 04, 6 05 20 PM

Another successful Bay Club Fourth of July Celebration is in the books for members and their guests.

Attendees enjoyed the carnival-style atmosphere which included face painting, dunk tank, bouncy house, inflatable obstacle course and individual and team races. New attractions of basketball and corn hole joined wiffleball, mini golf and volley ball to add to our game and sport offerings.   But the biggest competition of the evening was our popular egg toss – drawing the largest group of participants and even became a spectator event.  The competition lasted 20 minutes and in the end, a new pair of champions was crowned.

What’s a party without food?  A member favorite, Fried Chicken was on the menu, which also included Grilled Sausage, Hamburgers, Grilled Vegetables and various Summer Salads.  Our young guests enjoyed Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Cotton Candy and Snow Cones.

And no Fourth of July Celebration would be complete without fireworks!  Spectators enjoyed a brilliant display in perfect viewing conditions.

It was a beautiful day and party, and we are already discussing ways to make next year’s event even better.

Family Fun at the Bay Club

Thursday, 28. September 2017 12:08

Each summer the Bay Club holds a Parent/Child Golf Tournament, with teams made up of a child or grandchild of a club member.  This year’s event was a complete success with a record number of golfers playing in four different age divisions.  Following golf, players enjoyed a BBQ lunch, as well as a mini-golf putting challenge and the chance to hit balls at the 20-foot inflatable named Golfzilla.

However, the highlight of the day was the inspiring and motivational Dennis Walters Show.  During the show, Dennis spoke to spectators, both young and old, about the importance of continuing to follow your dreams, no matter what life hands you.  In 1974, Dennis’ dream of playing on the PGA Tour was crushed after an accident left him paralyzed from the waist down.

In his inspirational show, he wowed the crowd with some amazing golf shots that included hitting a ball with a gavel, his special “3-iron” and an exploding ball that got a thrill from spectators.  He spoke to the group about what changes he had to make in order to allow himself the ability to play golf and demonstrated his specially designed, swiveled seat golf cart.  To read more about the Dennis Walter Golf Show, please click here.

All in all, it was a great family day at the Club.

Santa Visits the Bay Club

Tuesday, 6. December 2016 10:20

dscn1150Santa Claus recently made his way to the Bay Club to visit the children during the family-friendly Breakfast with Santa and Gingerbread House Decorating event.

Parents and grandparents brought their little ones to first enjoy Sous Chef Mary Towers’ delicious pancakes with a variety of toppings including fresh fruits, marshmallows, chocolate chips and of course, whipped cream.   Following breakfast, Santa arrived and the children had a chance to sit on his lap and tell him what they want for Christmas.

After the visit with Santa, the children moved on to Gingerbread House Decorating.  The tables were lined with countless varieties of candy and treats to adorn the houses.  Their imaginations ran wild and they had a great time personalizing their houses while tasting some of the candies too.  Parents and grandparents with smaller children enjoyed themselves as well, while helping the little ones design the perfect house.

It was a great time had by all and a perfect start to the holiday season.

Tuesday, 8. November 2016 11:53

golfhousefall2016

As the days grow shorter and the colder, winter weather makes its way to New England, there’s nothing better than a warm, comforting meal with family and friends.  Now in its second season, the Casual Wednesday at the Golf House series provides just that for members in the fall and winter months.

The Food and Beverage team at the Golf House restaurant introduced Casual Wednesday last fall and the events quickly became popular.  Every week features a dinner buffet with a new and fun theme.  New this year, a different weekly themed beverage will be available.

This year kicked off with “Mexican and Margaritas” which included Beef Tacos, Shrimp Fajitas, Chicken Enchiladas and Churros for dessert.   Other themed menus on the schedule this season include Chinese Take-Out with Mai Tais; Burger Bar with Milkshakes; and Luau with fun Tropical Island Oasis drinks.  A particularly fun evening being planned for the children will be Breakfast for Dinner in December.  Following the meal, the Polar Express will be shown while hot cocoa and cookies are served.

Whether members stop in after playing Paddle Tennis or they take the family out for a quick, fun meal during the week, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

DSC_0055The Bay Club hosted the annual Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks for members and their guests on Saturday, July 2. With record numbers in attendance, everyone enjoyed wonderful food, fun games and awesome fireworks.  Dinner was centered around the patio of the Golf House restaurant with carnival food and games located on the practice range.  Multiple generations enjoyed the miniature golf that had been created on the Himalayan green along with volley ball and badminton.  In addition, children and adults enjoyed our annual wiffle ball game, the inflatable obstacle course, dunking the staff in the dunk tank and various individual and team races.  The evening concluded with a brilliant fireworks display; ending the night but not the Independence Day spirit.

It’s hard to believe the holiday and party have come and gone.  But we are already discussing how to make next year’s celebration even better.

The Holiday Season at the Bay Club

Friday, 11. December 2009 22:57

christmas wreathThe spirit is joyously bubbling over at the Bay Club at Mattapoisett this season.  Foremost, the beautiful tree, decked out by local florist Chad Micheal Peters in the Sports & Activities Center is brimming with lovely  gifts donated by our generous members in support of local children.

John McCormack, the Bay Club’s Director of  Cultural Activities, hosted a holiday wreath class to help members personalize their own special wreath to use in their homes.   As always The Bay Club provides the materials and members are encouraged to bring special elements that will personalize their work.  It is a social time of collaboration and has become a tradition with many members.

The annual holiday party will once again coincide with the Pro Shop Sale.  The sale hasn’t quite reached the level of frenzy as Filene’s on Wedding Gown Sale Day; however you would be surprised at the bargains and enthusiasm members bring to the event.

Hope to see you round the tree this season.  To arrange a personal tour, send Dave Andrews an email, he would be happy to arrange a meeting.
