Bay Club Sprint Triathlon and Kids Run

Thursday, 6. September 2012 11:49

The 6th Annual Bay Club Sprint Triathlon and Kids Fun Run saw a great turnout of both children and adults.  Held at the Sports and Activities Center and on the grounds of the club which includes more than 300 acres of conservation land, both young and old competed for the title of champion.  The youngsters started the day with a two lap swim in the Junior Olympic sized pool, one mile bike ride and half mile run.  The competition was a close one with the winning team claiming victory by just 18 seconds.   Individuals and teams then competed in the adult race with a 16 lap swim of the pool, 9.6 miles bike ride and a 3 mile run.   The participants were cheered and encouraged along the way by the members of the Bay Club community.

The Bay Club at Mattapoisett is a country club with an eighteen hole championship level golf course and residential property located in Southeastern MA.   The pool complex is highlighted by a junior Olympic sized pool with lap lanes and zero-depth, child-friendly entry. Life Guards and pool-side food and beverage services are available during the summer season. To arrange a private tour please contact Dave Andrews via e-mail or phone, 508-758-9543.

December at the Bay Club Mattapoisett

Thursday, 2. December 2010 19:13

Ginger Bread House | Bay Club Mattapoisett The Bay Club at Mattapoisett is chock full of special events this December; many of which have become family traditions.

The Holiday Wreath Workshop starts off the holiday season when local favorite Chad Michael Peters offers his assistance and a vast assortment of materials for members to create their personalized holiday masterpiece for doors, mantles or tabletops.

The young members of the Bay Club are treated to an incredible Gingerbread House Workshop. Willie Wonka himself could not provide a more elaborate spread of confections used to adorn the prebuilt houses. Generations of family members gather to enjoy the process and welcome Santa to the Bay Club!

Traditionally, a group of Bay Club members plan a trip to Boston to attend a Boston Holiday Pops performance. This year, however, the venue has been revised and the group heads to the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra as two of the young members of the club will play in the Family Holiday Pops performance!

Nestled in between the family events is a member holiday party where Chef Mercer outdoes himself each year with an amazing offering of holiday fare.

Teens at the Bay Club

Wednesday, 11. August 2010 14:38

Bay Club at Mattapoisett Base CampBay Club Base Camp (BCBC), new this summer to the Bay Club at Mattapoisett, was offered for children between the ages of  9 and 15.   This sometimes-mobile program ran for three afternoons each week and in addition to the primary theme of the week it included a cooking class, fitness with Bay Club Fitness Director Dave Maloney and a free swim.

Week one focused on sports taking advantage of the amenities of the club including a championship golf course, Junior Olympic sized swimming pool and four Har-Tru Hydo Tennis Courts.  Week two focused on moving making which began at the club learning TV production, set design and visual conception.  The group then traveled to a local TV studio where the children worked in small groups with expert technicians and completed a video montage.

Week Three was for the fish in the family!  Day one included learning about professional snorkeling, gearing up and being fitted to a wet suit. The second day was spent in the club pool with a professional dive team getting officially certificated in snorkeling and day three was spent in Barnstable for an outdoor dive with a team of expert divers at Hathaway Pond.

The teens at the club have also enjoyed Friday Night Teen Pool and Pizza Parties this summer.  The response to this event has been impressive to say the least.  The teens enjoyed a couple of hours in the pool with a casual dinner and a lively ping pong tournament.  It has been a pleasure for the staff and parents to watch so many young people enjoying the facilities and building friendships and summer memories that will certainly last a lifetime.

Summer Programs for Bay Club at Mattapoisett

Friday, 9. April 2010 14:01

Camp Seahorse Bay Club at MattapoisettSummer is a wonderful time for young members of the Bay Club at Mattapoisett.  This year we are proud to offer an expanded Club Seahorse in the form of Bay Club Base Camp for older children (9-15) as well as a competitive swim program.

We are thrilled to welcome back charismatic Chris Bobola as the Director of Club Seahorse.  Chris has been hard at work organizing and hiring a terrific staff for Summer 2010.  The program offers daily swimming, tennis and golf along with arts and crafts, games and outdoor sports for children aged 4 to 9 years old.

John McCormack, Director of Cultural Activities and Special Events at the Bay Club is the thought leader behind Bay Club Base Camp.  “BCBC” is geared towards children ages 9 to 15.  The program is a hybrid of fun, educational activities with sports and life development skills.  Some of the action will be held off site to take advantage of the wonderful natural resources our Southeastern MA location has to offer.

Bay Club’s Nate Medeiros, WSI certified instructor and long time competitive swimmer, will coach the Bay Club Competitive Swim Program.  The group will be broken down by age group and the workouts include stretching, dry land training, stroke work, distance and sprint training and then verbal evaluations.  Nate is a motivating force, both in and out of the pool.  His love of swimming is passed through to the children and directed into a rewarding competitive experience.
